NMS Wants YOU to Go to School!

Some people like going to school, some people don't. The biggest difference for most of us is what kind of school it is. Clown college? It has it's fans I'm sure. McDonalds Hamburger University? Very important if McDonalds is your career. When it comes to driving you might have even taken some driver's training in school. Beyond that, there are plenty of ways to go to school to become a safer or faster driver, depending on your desires.

As far as driving school for racers, I'm thinking that the easiest or least complicated school would be drag racing school! I've never tried it, but it sounds simple. Take 1 car, line up at a drag strip, wait for the green light, and then go as fast as you can in a straight line. None of that tricky turning the steering wheel or braking for a corner, no need to memorize a complicated series of left and right hand turns; just GO!

Of course that is too simplistic and there is a fine art to launching the car, setting up the suspension, shifting, picking the best tires and other car parts to maximize performance, etc. Hmmm, that makes drag racing sound a bit more complicated, so maybe I need to go to school!

The World's Easiest Car Repair: Krazy Glue

Red Duct Tape in Action

At an autocross last year, I was driving the FIAT and in the middle of some maneuver, the little air bag cover in the middle of my steering wheel popped out of position. Needless to say, that didn't help my driving time the rest of the run as I was trying to pop it back into position and stay on course. For some reason the cover didn't want to go back in, so I just lived with it for a few weeks. At the next monthly autocross I knew I had to repair this thing somehow, so I grabbed some big old red sticky duct tape and made sure it didn't bother me anymore. Remember, if duct tape or a hammer won't fix something, then you might have to hire an expert. The red tape worked wonders for the rest of the summer, but it did look kind of dumb, so the other day it was finally time to figure this thing out.

After peeling off the red tape, I just had to pop the center cap back in, so I wanted to try some Krazy Glue on it also to make sure. Before doing that though, a bit of Goo Gone took care of the mess on the steering wheel. You should use these products in a ventilated stuff, wear some gloves, and keep the chemical stuff off your hands.

This was way less complicated than an engine rebuild, replacing a fuel filter, or anything like that! Happy driving!

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee: New Season Jan. 5th!

Happy New Year! It's a brand new year, approximately 2017 give or take a few years. That means that it's time to buckle up, because starting on Thursday January 5th, it's another season of Jerry Seinfeld's great show that combines the three C's of life: COMEDIANS, in CARS, getting COFFEE! If you aren't familiar with this internet only show (that you can watch anytime for free), let me try to break this down for you. Unlike a normal talk show where a "host" sits at a "desk" and interviews "people" in a cleverly disguised format for them to "advertise" the latest show/CD/movie, CICGC is totally different! Jerry drives some really cool car, picks up the "guest", and then they go visit a diner and have coffee. During this entire time, the two of them are talking and being funny. See, that's a really clever way to have a TV show that's not on TV, and isn't really a show.
