Porsche Autocross Finale Report

You don't see a 50s Corvette autocrossing everyday!

This year the Carolinas Region Porsche Club of America sponsored six autocross events, and I was able to compete at five of them. For the season points race, they divide cars into classes based on their performance, so that we have basically similar car competing against each other. I think this is great, because otherwise my 265 horsepower rear wheel drive car might be up against the 400 and 500+ horsepower cars out there!

Phillip Mills, 2nd from left, leads the driver meeting. Phillip ended up with the Fastest Time of the Day in his Porsche 911.

Anyway, my unofficial results say that after winning my class the previous two years, this year ended in a TIE! Reed Phillips in a similar Boxster and I both drove in five events. We both beat each other twice. We both won one other event that the other driver was not entered! I'm not a math expert, but three wins and two 2nd place finishes for each of us adds up to a tie! Congrats to Reed, he was well ahead of me at this last event.

NMS-North gives a thumbs up to another fun day of autocross.

On Sunday we had a field of 31 drivers total, split into two different run groups. I got to drive in the first group, and worked on course for run group 2. Here's a look at all the Porsche and non-Porsche cars in the 2nd run group. Some really cool cars like a 50s Corvette and a Lotus were great to see.
