As part of the Saturday and Sunday 24 Hours of Lemons Race at CMP,  Friday night kicked off the weekend with the Lemons Block Party, where all 90 race cars paraded into Camden SC! For three hours it was a festive atmosphere, with all the crazy cars and costumed drivers waiting to have their cars judged, which would determine if they were in Class A (faster cars likely to finish the race,) Class B (slightly less faster and more likely to NOT finish the race,) and the highly coveted Class C (not so fast and definitely looking unlikely to finish the entire race.)

The judging is the most fun part of the evening, with the judges gladly accepting bribes (food, drinks, silly stuff) and then making their class decisions regardless! The judges are easy to spot, since they're judges they wear robes!

As for other costumes, I saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Disco Themes, Gnomes, Star Wars Jawas, some Revolutionary era folks, and just about everything else you can imagine. One theme was a video game or TV show, and those dudes looked scary!

With a live band, numerous shops and restaurants open for business, I would imagine it's an annual highlight in Camden SC, and in fact, it's usually only Lemons race in the country that does a Friday night Block Party! There are 20 more Lemons races around the USA for the remainder of 2026, so let's walk around the Block Party!
